• Q: I'm not a good swimmer, can I still go sledging on class III - IV river sections?

A: YES, as long as you are physically fit and have an adventurous attitude. After the safety river orientation and water workshop, we will assess your skill. If there are areas that you need extra help with, we will give you one-on-one instruction.

Q: I do a lot of ocean diving, will this benefit me in the river?

A: YES it will benefit you in the sense that you will be comfortable in the water and familiar with wearing neoprene wetsuits and fins.

Q: I have my own wetsuit and fins. Can I wear them on this adventure?

A: NO. Our equipment has been specifically made and designed for the river and to Aspen Seals specifications.

Q: I am a very good kayaker, will my river skills be an advantage to me?

A: YES, the go-for-it attitude that you need to kayak in the higher-class rapids is the same attitude that will benefit you sledging. As well, you should be able to understand and read the river.

Q: I am a kayaker and my partner doesn't like kayaking, but they always do the shuttle driving for me. I would like my partner to experience white water rapids, is this something they could easily do?

A: YES, as long as your partner is physically fit able to swim and has a go-for-it attitude he/she will be able to enjoy the river rapids by going Sledging with us. Hopefully you'll come sledging with your partner and be part of this adventure as well!

Q: We would like to do this as a family/private group. Do you offer this option?

A: YES. We schedule private and group adventures and we will work with you to schedule a convenient time. However, it is essential to schedule 48 hours in advance.

Q: All my buddies and I would like to do the biggest and best that you offer. Can we go as a group?

A: YES. We schedule private group adventures and we will work with you to schedule a convenient time. However, it is essential to schedule 48 hours in advance.

Q: I have rafted every summer and am looking for a bigger and better white water experience. Is sledging more exciting than rafting?

A: YES. We believe Sledging is the ultimate white water experience! You are physically kicking through the river rapids with one face shot after another. Your adrenaline will be pumping through your body during the whole trip. Check out our Comments section and see what other adventurers have thought! We encourage you to bring your go-for-it attitude and give it a try!

Q: I have a drysuit that keeps me very warm, can I wear this on the trip?

A: NO. A drysuit is easily punctured and then it is no longer a dry suit. Our equipment has been specifically designed for the river and to Aspen Seals specifications to keep you warm and protected in the river.

Q: I have a boogie board. Can I use this on the trip?

A: NO. A boogie board is not specifically designed for the river, therefore it does not meet White Water Sledging or Aspen Seals standards. Because of it's construction it is not safe in the river.

Q: I have a good knowledge of the river and am a swiftwater rescue volunteer with all my own river equipment. Will I be able to use this equipment on your trip?

A: NO. However we welcome you and are very happy to get your feedback at the end of the trip. Our equipment is specially designed and made for sledging alone. As well, our guides are familiar with the equipment if any adjustments need to be made.

Q: I like surfing. Is White Water Sledging similar?

A: White Water Sledging is similar in the sense that you will be comfortable in the water and familiar with wearing a neoprene wetsuit, albeit the Sledging wetsuit will be thicker than what you are accustomed to. As well, Sledging is wild and wet and the vessel you use in the rapids is a board you are in control of. And, you look great doing it!

Q: I really like the sound of this adventure and would like to become a guide. How can I sign up to be a guide?

  • A: Aspen Seals offers a thorough training program in early spring and mid season. We appreciate your interest in this program. Please contact us by email at aspenseals@aspenseals.com for more information.
